Massachusetts Ballot Questions

Do you think these are good questions? If so where do you stand?
Voter Questions:

Question 1.) A YES VOTE would reduce the state personal income tax rate to 2.65% for the tax year beginning on January 1, 2009 and would eliminate the tax for all tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2010.

A NO VOTE would make no change in state income tax laws.

Question 2.) A YES VOTE would replace the criminal penalties of one ounce or less of marijuana with a new system of civil penalties.

A NO VOTE would make no change in state criminal laws concerning possession of marijuana.

Question 3.) A YES VOTE would prohibit dog races on which betting or wagering effective January 1, 2010.

A NO VOTE would make no change in laws governing dog racing.

Government

There are three branches of the Government. The first branch is the Legislative Branch. The second branch is the Executive Branch which contains the President the Vice President and the Cabinet. This branch carries out the laws (diplomatic). The third branch is the Judicial Branch. The Legislative branch can collect, make, declare, control, coin, and set up. The Executive branch grants can makes, give, command, appoint, and enforce. The judicial branch can try, punish, sentence, evaluate, hear, and decide.

There are many different kinds of government; There are Monarchy, Democracy, Republic, Tyranny, Oligarchy, Anarchy, Communism, and Socialism. Today we call our political system a two-party system. The two main parties are Democratic and Republican. Other then these two parties we have the third parties which consist of the Libertarian Party Constitution Party, Green Party, etc.

John Adams started the Federalist party which had a strong central government with wealthy intellectual people. In 1824 it became the Whig party. Later was turned into the Republican party with Abraham Lincoln as the first Republican President. At the same time of John Adams starting the Federalist party Jefferson, who was our first democratic president, started the Democratic/Republican party. This gave power to the people (farmers/common people)and made it equal to all members of the United States, spread out the power. Later in 1824 Jefferson made the Democratic party and cut out the Republican party. In 1850 they added the Third parties. Since then we have combined the Republicans and Democrats to make up a Two-Party system with Third parties.

Celebrities and Politics??

YES!!

I think that Celebrities should be involved in politics. They can influence the youth and new voters to make the right decisions for THEIR future. Great examples of "Celebs" that get involved in politics would be Russell Simmons the creator of Phat Farm and ex husband of Kimorra who is the creator of Baby Phat. He sends out messages to people that are saying, not to vote for Barack Obama because he's an African American, but because of his issues and how he can CHANGE America for OUR future.
